What is a fiduciary?

A fiduciary is someone who acts on behalf of another person to protect money, property and, under certain circumstances, the person themselves.

Someone who would seek the services of a fiduciary include family members of adults who are developmentally disabled, mentally ill, or those lacking capacity to care for themselves.   Others who could benefit from a private professional fiduciary would include family members who are in conflict surrounding the administration of a trust and those who are unable or unwilling to act as administrator for an estate or trust.
